On Saturday, the Lagos Police Command announced that a thorough investigation into the singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba’s passing had begun. Due to growing public concerns and an initial police review, the Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Idowu Owohunwa, issued an official statement via their verified social media handle ordering a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad. The State Criminal inquiry Department’s (SCID) Homicide Section’s Special Investigation Team was formed by the police commissioner to lead this inquiry. According to the statement, “Full-scale criminal investigation into the case has been ordered to be opened as a result of the growing public concerns and the preliminary police review of the general circumstances surrounding the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba aka Mohbad. To this aim, the State Criminal inquiry Department’s (SCID) Homicide Section’s Special Investigation Team has been formed by the police commissioner to oversee the inquiry. “The team, which is made up of experienced homicide detectives, has been given the task of compiling all allegations, suspicions, and insinuations regarding the singer’s death from various sources and conducting a professional, diligent, and timely investigation with a view to establishing facts, dispelling all doubts, and ensuring that justice is clearly served through a meticulous process that will deploy all necessary protocols (which may include exhumation), as well as technical and scientific methods. “To assist this effort, the Lagos State Government has committed to providing the Special Investigation Team with full support in any way necessary to ensure a thorough investigation. “Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu provided this pledge earlier today when discussing the best way to guarantee that the matter is swiftly probed and justice is delivered. The deceased’s family, friends, coworkers, or anyone else with information that could help the investigation is hereby urged to contact the State Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide Section at 08036885727. This will help the police conduct the case investigation to a successful conclusion. The Lagos State Police Command guarantees that the public will be informed of the investigation’s progress in a manner that is consistent with legal and ethical standards.
